This fireclay kitchen sink can be used with a garbage disposer - the manufacturer recommends using their hc4513 disposer flange and hc4514 stopper. Also, this sink can be undermounted provided a support structure able to withstand 180 lbs. of weight is used. Fireclay is a variation of vitreous china that has greater amounts of quartz and feldspar in the clay material. It is denser, thicker and approximately 30% heavier than regular clay. These characteristics allow for a durable, smooth, flat surface on large fixtures not attainable with standard vitreous china. PLEASE NOTE: Fireclay sinks have slight variations in size, and also all four sides of sink have a slight pitch. We highly recommend the sink be on site when cabinets are being ordered or manufactured. Not recommended for installation with a laminate countertop.
