Built for Speed. In the early 1970s, an experienced Wisconsin tradesman named Bob Kopras was getting more and more frustrated by the lengthy amount of time it took to hang and cut drywall on the job site. He was burning a ton of time making cut-outs in the drywall for outlet boxes, windows and doors in particular, which hurt his overall efficiency on the job. A passionate and visionary drywall professional, Bob came up with a breakthrough idea and developed a spiral cutting bit that sliced through drywall with speed and ease, without damaging key areas like the outlet boxes. In addition, he was even able to design the bit to carry the drywall dust away from the user - another huge convenience. While the main benefits of Bob's new bits were their cutting speed and ability to deliver controlled, accurate cuts, since they sliced through materials cleanly, rather than ripping them like a jig, reciprocating or circular saw blade does.
Bob quickly learned that his newly patented spiral cutting bits were even better and tougher than he had planned for. He found that they could cut through other building materials like plywood, metal pipe, bath tile and more with the same speed and accuracy. As a professional tradesman, he began to think of all the other applications and jobs that these new bits could take on, bringing speed and efficiency to his business.
