The Dize Company is one of the largest fabricators of awnings, tarpaulins and specialty products on the East Coast in a 79,000 square foot facility.
Hudgin Awning Company of Norfolk, Virginia began manufacturing canvas awnings, canvas window shades and tarpaulins in 1913.
In 1922, Archie Thomas Dize purchased the company and moved its headquarters to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and began manufacturing all types of tents for fairs, carnivals, circuses, gospel events and the United States Armed Forces. At that time, Mr. Dize changed the name of the company to DIZE AWNING & TENT COMPANY.
Members of the Dize family continued ownership and management of the company until 1986 when it was purchased by Mr. C.R. Skidmore, Jr., and the name was changed to the Dize Company to reflect the much expanded product line.
